About Inmate Search

ActiveWhat is an Inmate Search?

An Inmate Search provides detailed information about a current or former inmate. Federal, state, and local prison systems are required to document all prisoners and maintain records on every inmate. An Inmate Search can locate an inmate, provide personal information about the individual, and it may include the inmate's offenses and sentence.

Inmate records contain personal information about incarcerated individuals, including the inmate's full name and any aliases, their age, race, and sex, and information relating to their incarceration. This includes the inmate's prison registration number, location, any prior incarcerations, release date, and in some cases, details relating to the inmate's convictions.

There are a number of reasons to perform an Inmate Search. Screening inmate records can be an important part of a background check. Employers, law enforcement agencies, and individuals may perform an Inmate Search to learn if a potential employee, suspect, or neighbor has been incarcerated. This information can be useful to assess a former inmate's threat to public safety.

An Inmate Search can also help families stay in touch with incarcerated loved ones. The search results include contact information for the institution that is currently holding the inmate. Inmates may be transferred or receive a new release date, and Inmate Searches can ensure that family members have up-to-date contact information. Inmate Searches can also help family members learn how to make visitations or send money to incarcerated individuals.

Inmate records are an important tool for prisons and jails. They are used to track prisoners, monitor their sentences, and collect demographic information. Prisons, sociologists, and criminal researchers can use inmate records to understand trends in criminal behavior and aid law enforcement. Inmate Searches are an important way to collect inmate records.

In the United States, there are separate federal and state prison systems. When performing an Inmate Search, it is important to use the correct inmate locator database. The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), for example, provides an online inmate locator that only includes federal inmates. If an inmate has been transferred between state and federal prisons, it may be necessary to perform more than one Inmate Search.

The Licking County OH Justice Center is a County - medium detention center located at 155 East Main St in Newark, OH. This county jail is operated locally by the Licking County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Licking County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities and the Newark Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

There are new detainees delivered to the jail daily, the see arrest recordshere. Some are released after putting up bail, are released to a pretrial services caseload, are placed under supervision by a probation agency, or are released on their own recognizance with an agreement to appear in court. If there is no release, the inmate must wait here at the jail for their court appearance as a guest of the County, getting a bed and three square meals.

Trustees are inmates who work in the jail as cooks, as orderlies for the staff, in the laundry or in the commissary. The trustees are paid a very small amount for their time and some jail gives the trustees a few days off their sentence in exchange for their work.

When an inmate arrives in jail they are put together in a large holding cell with other inmates in the intake. While in intake they are under heightened observation. Violent and out of control inmates are segregated.

Can I Get Work Release?

Work release is when you are released from jail during the day so that you can go to work. At the end of the day, you return to jail for the night. There are a number of requirements to be able to get into the work release program. Most programs require your employer to fill out some paperwork. If you want to get into the work release program then apply prior to being sentenced to jail. This will minimize the amount of time you spend in jail waiting to get into the program.

Can I call my family in Jail?

Licking County OH Justice Center has a phone program where inmates make outbound calls only, you cannot call into jail. Since you are paying for those calls don't make it a habit of accepting collect-calls, they are over $15 EACH. The alternative is to set up an account through their third-party phone company which charges steep fees for each minute used. You are paying for them to call you. Click here if you are going to speak a lot and need a discount on the calls.

Remember - These phone calls are recorded and conversations can be used against you or the inmate so do not discuss your case over these phone lines.
